Keep it to what an email needs
This text goes out on every mail, so it is the wrong place for anything that changes. A group name, a one-line description and perhaps the group's address is the shape that ages well.
Email greeting
Every email the platform sends on your group's behalf ends with a signature. This tab is where that signature is written, once per language.
The Email tab
Email in the group settings is a short form: one field per active language, holding the text that goes at the bottom of every mail sent to your members. The greeting itself - "Cheers," or "Viele Grüße," - is not here; it belongs to the individual email template and changes with the language automatically.
What the fields do
- The signature field
- One per active language. It appears at the bottom of all emails sent to your group members - announcements, event updates, reminders.
- Leaving a field empty
- An empty field is not an empty signature: the group name is used instead. That is a reasonable default, so a group with nothing to add can leave the whole tab alone.
- The language prefix
- The line above your signature comes from the email template, per language. You do not write it here, and you should not repeat it in the signature.
