From the company to the servers, MeetAgain runs in Europe.
Your group trusts MeetAgain with names, email addresses, and who comes to which event. That data deserves a home with clear rules. MeetAgain is a German company, and every member profile, event and photo is stored on servers in Germany. European data protection law applies in full, and if something goes wrong you can turn to a European data protection authority, in your own language.
Where the servers stand is only half of it. A US company has to hand over data to US authorities on request, even when that data sits in a data centre in Frankfurt. MeetAgain has no parent company outside the EU, so that law does not reach your group. The code is open source, so anyone can check what it does, and any group can take its data and leave at any time.
MeetAgain UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is registered in Berlin, Germany, with no parent company outside the EU.
All member data is stored on Hetzner servers in German data centres.
Group payments are processed by Mollie, a payment provider based in Amsterdam.
Our emails are sent through Sweego, a French email provider.
We count visits with a self-hosted Umami. No Google Analytics and no ad trackers.
The code is public under the European Union Public Licence. Any group can export its data or run MeetAgain on its own server.
A few optional features reach outside the EU: embedded YouTube videos load only after you agree, and browser notifications pass through your browser maker's push service.
